Videos, Reviews, and Previews For Comic Fans

From the Panel to the Screen

With the New York Comic Con coming in just 12 days, brings you this preview of the fantastic film adaptations being showcased that weekend: WANTED, THE SPIRIT, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY.

While I certainly can’t say this will be the most faithful adaptation of the comic material it is supposedly based on (the two properties really only have the title in common), Angelina Jolie is really hot. Apparently, the guys behind this movie think that’s enough to carry this movie. Here’s the trailer:

The movie stars the aforementioned Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, of NIGHT WATCH and DAY WATCH, the film is due June 27th. For more info, check out the official website here.

Will Eisner’s iconic hero, Denny Colt, makes his way to the big screen in January 2009 courtesy of Frank Miller and LIONSGATE. With tons of name power like Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johanssen and Eva Mendes providing support for the man behind the domino mask, Gabriel Macht, this is one title I’m really looking forward to. While there is no trailer as of yet, NY Comic Con will be where the teaser trailer is debuted. You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be front row for the premier covering it for you guys.

In the meantime, check the official site for production diaries and updates from Miller himself here.

Ed Norton and Tim Roth had me sold the moment their names were attached to this film. This film is being directed by Louis Letterier of TRANSPORTER 2. I secretly love that movie and the one thing it certainly had in abundance was action. Too bad Jason Statham isn’t in this. He’s the man. I digress. If this trailer is any indication, Hulk will smash. A lot.

It looks like there was a hint of Dale Keown in the design of the new Hulk. That’s really promising. The movie will be smashing into theaters on June 13th. Check the official site here.

Last, but certainly not least, is the second entry into the HELLBOY movie series. All your favorites reprise their roles from the first film, as does Guillermo del Toro return behind the camera. Ron Perlman was just born for this role. Nobody has ever brought to life a fictional character like Ron has Hellboy. The moment you first saw him in the makeup in the first teaser trailer, you just knew the awesomeness couldn’t be contained. Of course, the real stars here are the make-up guys. The character designs in del Toro movies are always off the charts, and HB2 looks to up the ante just a little bit more.

The movie is due July 11th. For more, check out the official site here.

That just about does it for our preview. Obviously DARK KNIGHT (July 18th) and IRON MAN (May 2nd) are also coming out this year, but since they have less of a presence at NYCC, look for FROM the PANEL to the SCREEN to cover them as more information is made available. and will be hitting the New York Comic Con, and promise to bring you more exciting coverage as it breaks. Stay tuned, we’re just getting warmed up.
