From the Panel to the Screen

Frank Miller’s Will Eisner’s The Spirit gets some face time today as COMIC BOOK RESOURCES gets some pics of a few major players and the triptych poster from LIONSGATE. Take a look at the pretty people after the jump.

The always entertaining Samuel L. Jackson as The Octopus.

The stunningly beautiful Scarlett Johanssen as Silken Floss.

Well… those certainly are pictures aren’t they. While I didn’t think LIONSGATE would let any pictures out that revealed any plot points, these screen grabs really keep it close to the vest. Samuel L. Jackson looks just like I thought he would as the Octopus: Like Samuel L. Jackson in a suit and tie. One of the great things about the Octopus was you never knew who he was. It’d almost be better if they kept him in shadow and let Samuel just voice him, but when you pay for Samuel L. Jackson, you get all of him. Too bad Scarlett’s face is obscured by the noir lighting. Damn you German expressionism.

Below, you’ll find the triptych, which I think is really great. I love the tag lines. And (Sorry, Frank) this image blows away the original teaser poster.

Be sure to stay tuned as will be bringing you all the updated Spirit movie news from the New York Comic-Con later this week.

I guess Frank Miller will have to prove himself as a director, but at least they seem to have given it the right look. Starting to look forward to this as I’m a a huge fan of Will Eisner’s Spirit.

I agree Frank has to prove himself, but I’m still holding off judgment until I see something more substantial than pictures. Hopefully the NYCC panel will shed some more light, and have a teaser trailer for us.
