It’s been awhile since I’ve spent a lot of time with Top Cow’s WITCHBLADE series, but it may be time to get on board again. In addition to the comic crossovers, anime, and TV series that Witchblade has already been featured in, Variety is reporting that a Witchblade feature film is in the works. According to the Variety report, Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions, and Arclight Films will be joining forces to bring the live-action film to theaters. The film will adapt the comic series, which began in 1995 and centers around the Witchblade, an artifact with incredible powers worn by NYPD cop Sara Pezzini, among other chosen females.

As of now, there is no word on a date or potential stars for the adaptation. The studios hope to being production this September, so I would guess a late 2009/early 2010 release for the movie.
