Wanted Takes Out Box Office Records
As reported earlier, TheQuarterbin went to see Wanted this weekend, and we had a great time. The movie was a lot of fun to watch, and quite honestly, better than I expected. Apparently we weren’t the only ones making the trip to see the Top Cow comic adaptation this weekend, as the film is breaking all kinds of box office records. Hit the jump for more.
Some Wanted stats:
-As of yesterday, the movie made over 50 million dollars
-Biggest live-opening film of Angelina Jolie’s career, beating out Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith
-Best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, and the 6th best R-rated opening ever, as well as being the 3rd highest R-rated action movie opening ever
This is great news for comic fans! Even the studio only expected Wanted to make around 35 mil, but it seems that Angelina Jolie was enough of a draw to pull in more moviegoers. This could also mean more films being made from Top Cow properties, since that option was hinted at back at Wizard World Philly in March. Ron Marz said it himself: “Go see Wanted a lot of times, that will help a lot.” Well, we’ve seen it, guys. What’s next?
