Emily the Strange Manic Panic Line Set to Debut

Posted by Sarah LeBoeuf On August - 14 - 2008

Hey, fellow Emily the Strange fans! After being announced at New York Comic Con back in April, it looks like Emily’s line of hair dyes and other beauty products are ready to come out. Already available at retailers, the dyes, extensions, and make-up will be making a more high-profile debut at the MAGIC Fashion and Apparel Tradeshow in Vegas later this month. Dude, I so wish I could be there! I’d gladly let a member of the Manic Panic team make me over. Yes, I may be 25 years old, but I still love Emily and hair dye, so this is kind of a no-brainer for me. Hit the jump for the full press release.

BE AT MAGIC’S STREETWEAR LOUNGE FOR HER MANIC PANIC DEBUT

BERKELEY, CA – August 14, 2008: Emily the Strange excitedly announces a colorful new partnership with world-renowned Manic Panic NYC for an exclusive line of hair products and cosmetics. The Manic Panic Emily the Strange product line debuts at the MAGIC Fashion and Apparel Tradeshow, August 25-57, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Las Vegas Hilton. Members of the Manic Panic make-up team will do makeovers at 10 am, noon, 2 pm and 4 pm on August 25-27 with Emily Strange Strips colored hair extensions at the MAGIC Streetwear Lounge. The Lounge, STL 21538, will be located in the Subculture Section, South Hall, 1st Floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center. MAGIC’s Streetwear Lounge is sponsored and organized by Steady Clothing.

The Manic Panic Emily product line will include the Amplified Hair Coloring Kit featuring Semi-Purrmanent Hair Color, Nail Paw-Lish, and Strange Strips clip-on hair extensions.

Dubbed “The Martha Stewart (s) of Punk Rock” by BusinessWeek, Manic Panic’s Bellomo sisters’ roots lie in the early days of punk and the legendary CBGB club. Tish and Snooky Bellomo started out singing backup for many famous bands, including the original Blondie. Their real fame, however, came from their retail endeavors. “Audience members liked our style and asked us where we got our clothing,” said Tish. The two opened a fashion boutique in the East Village in 1977. More than 30 years later, their small store has turned into a thriving alternative lifestyle business. Manic Panic has become synonymous with vibrant, double take-worthy hair color.

Tish and Snooky said that Emily the Strange’s image as a counterculture, do-it-yourself icon is a great fit with Manic Panic products. “Emily exudes the attitude and creative spirit Manic Panic has built its reputation on…and because she resonates with today’s young rockers, she’s a natural choice for us,” said Snooky.

The Manic Panic Emily hair products and cosmetics are now available to the public at www.manicpanic.com, and will be coming to www.emilystrange.com and retail stores soon. Store buyers should call Manic Panic NYC at 718-937-6055 for wholesale purchases.
