Hellboy: In the Chapel of Moloch

Mike Mignola returns to write and draw his creation for this $2.99 one-shot. If you’ve yet to witness the awesome that is a Mignola-drawn issue of Hellboy, this is certainly a grand opportunity. It’s certainly the time of year when you need a good story to keep you in the spirit, and there’s no better guide this Hallow’s Eve than ol’ Red.

Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns

There’s been a slow build to the Spectrum War, and the next phase begins this week when this issue kicks off “Rage of the Red Lanterns.” If you haven’t been keeping up with Final Crisis, don’t worry, this book has more to do with what’s been happening in the Green Lantern books than it does with what hasn’t been happening during the big DC event. Make sure to pick up this $3.99 book up. You don’t want to miss out on this like you did on Sinestro Corp Wars, do you?

Northlanders #11

Ryan Kelly reunites with Local collaborator Brian Wood on the latest arc of Wood’s fantastically underrated Viking comic. Kelly’s art is pretty damn good, and Wood has a definite handle on the period. Hopefully, you guys grabbed that sweet collection last week to catch up on all the sweet storytelling that’s been happening in this book. If not, grab this $2.99 issue for a little taste of what you’ve been missing.

Superman #681

New Krypton” continues this week, and I’m stoked. I really dig what they’re trying to do reintroducing Krytponians into the DCU, and wonder just how far Johns, Robinson, and Gates are going to take it. Be sure to grab the second part of what is sure to be one of the most talked about storylines of the year this week for just $2.99.

Amazing Spider-Man #575

This book is worth the $2.99 tag for the Chris Bachalo art alone. Add in Spider-Man, and a story by Joe Kelly, and you’ve got a recipe for success. C’mon, look at that cover, and tell me you’re not interested in finding out what happens inside.

Incredible Hercules #122

Again, look at this cover, and tell me you don’t want to see what happens when Hercules throws down with Namor, the Sub-Mariner. The fight against the Amazons continues this month as well, and you’re going to want to see just what Herc and Amadeus have up their sleeves. Add it to the buy pile for $2.99.

Thor #11

Damn, this book has such a great story from JMS, and such amazing art from Olivier Coipel, I’m not even going to hype it up. $2.99.

Trade Paperback/Hardcover of the Week

Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo reuinite for this $19.99 hardcover featuring the clown prince of crime. You can count of some great dialogue, as Azzarello is not only one of the top crime writers of our generation, he’s one of the best writers working in comics today. If you’ve never been witness to Lee Bermejo interiors, this book will be a great introduction to an artist that isn’t a household name, but is definitely as talented as any creator working today.

See you next week.
