DC COMICS

Scalped #23

I understand you may be apprehensive about starting a book that is smack in the middle of a story arc, but in all honesty, you need to be reading this. Jason Aaron crafts one of the most compelling modern crime sagas in any medium, and RM Guera’s artistic style perfectly compliments Aaron’s gritty script. The characters in this book demand to be read. Don’t hold off any longer. Pick up this $2.99 issue, and get in the know.

Terra #2

If Amanda Connor’s art doesn’t grab your attention, you clearly have no soul. Her fluid style perfectly captures the feel of this solid action adventure, and you are seriously missing out by not reading this (or any of her other works). This mini-series is a solid jumping on point for people looking for an easy entryway to the DCU, and for $2.99, there’s no reason for you to not give it a shot. Especially during this extremely light week.

MARVEL COMICS

Amazing Spider-Man #578

Sure, you’ve seen this cover in various incarnations over the years, but you’ve never seen it by Marcos Martin. This week, Spider-Man welcomes writer Mark Waid to the fold, and you can bet his first foray with the webhead is going to be a blast. Team him up with Marcos on art, and pretty much have a sure thing on your hands. Be sure to add this $2.99 book to your buy pile. Or else.

Uncanny X-Men #504

Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker are really doing a bang-up job on this book. A new storyline starts here, and there’s no time like the present to start reading the further adventures of Marvel’s merry mutants. Oh, and there’s some Terry Dodson art to boot. Good story and good art for just $2.99. Sounds like a deal.

Man, that was a really light week. I better see you guys picking up everything this week. There’s going to be a test. Not really. See you next week.
