Five new GI Joe movie posters have sprung up, along with my spirits after seeing the Baroness poster above. Hit the jump to see what the posters featuring your favorite Joes look like… And what’s this about a Super Bowl spot?
While doing my usual internet searching this morning, I happened across these beauties on Ain’t It Cool, and just knew I had to share them with the rest of you. Take a gander at the one-sheets that will be making their way into cinemas near you very shortly.
They’re not bad. In fact, they do exactly what they’re supposed to: give us a brief glimpse of the characters, and get our hopes up for seeing Snake Eyes fight just about anybody. I know seeing Marlon Wayans will make a lot of non-believers, but we don’t even know how much time he’ll spend on screen. As long as he’s a third-tier character, I have no probelem with him. Marlon’s not getting top billing, so I’m not really too worried about it. What I am worried about is the lack of images featuring the other Cobra mainstays: Cobra Commander and Destro.
Upon hearing that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was cast as Cobra Commander, there was a bit of a fan outcry. But let me tell you something: the guy can act. He’s got some serious chops (watch The Lookout and Brick and you’ll see), and I think everyone is going to be eating crow on this one. Christoper Eccelston as Destro sounds cool, but as a fan, I think we need to start seeing what these guys are going to look like. How we’ve gone this long without any pics being leaked is a testament to the people working on the film. Don’t get me wrong, I like surprises as much as the next person, but GI Joes were pretty much the only toy I gave a shit about during my childhood. I need to see these characters brought to life. I’m not expecting Academy Award winning cinema here. A Bruckheimer-style blockbuster will do just fine.
Guess we’ll all have to be tuned into the Super Bowl this Sunday in hopes that we’ll get a glimpse into the more nefarious characters from the upcoming flick during the teaser trailer that’s supposedly being shown. Until then, I wait with baited breath.
