UPDATED!! NY Comic Con Adding Show, Moving Dates
According to Newsarama, Reed Exhibitions will be adding a second comic convention, taking place in Chicago, to their 2010 schedule. What does this mean for the New York Comic Con? Hit the jump to find out.

Reed Exhibitions has officially announced that they will move New York Comic Con to the weekend of October 8th-10th in 2010, and launch the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (or “C2E2″) on the weekend of April 16th-18th, 2010.
It appears that Reed Exhibitions is looking to bring the fun and excitement of the New York Comic Con to Chicago in the spring of 2010. Reportedly taking place at McCormick Place in either April or May, this new Chicago comic convention has the potential to change the landscape of the summer convention circuit for 2010 and beyond. Wizard’s Chicago show happens just 2 weeks after San Diego, and it’d be tough to imagine people cutting back on San Diego, scaling back how much, and who, to bring to Wizard’s show is a possibility. Particularly if there’s another show in the same city just months before.
Of course, Chicago isn’t the only one affected here. There’s a chance putting a show in April/May, just a few weeks prior to both Wizard Philly and HEROES Con (both take place the same weekend: June 19-21), which are already battling one another for dominance, could affect those two weekends even more. Smaller cons like Baltimore and Emerald City seem safe for now, but depending on just when Reed is able to schedule the NYCC in 2010, they might feel repurcussions. There’s yet to be an official statement from Reed Exhibitors about their definitive plans, but as soon as word gets out, we’ll update you guys.
