NYCC 09: Thursday Night Recap

Even though New York Comic Con 2009 doesn’t officially kick off until tomorrow morning, we arrived in New York City tonight to attend Activision’s NYCC Cocktail Mixer and check out some of their upcoming titles. We got into the city a couple of hours early, and with time to kill, the only logical thing to do seemed to be check out the Nintendo World Store several blocks away. Hit the jump to see how the rest of our night went.

It was good to get out of the cold and step into the Nintendo World Store, where we got to see countless Nintendo products: hardware, software, accessories, accessories for those accessories, apparel, stuffed animals, board games… While Luke and I played Donkey Kong and Pac-Man on a couple of Virtual Consoles, Coop shopped around and left with an armload of Nintendo-themed plushies. Then it was off to the Activision party.

At Flatotel, Activision had rented out the whole restaurant and set up several TVs and 360s to display Prototype, X-men Origins: Wolverine, and Wolfenstein. After eating various meats on sticks, the three of us split up and tried to get as much hands-on (and eyes-on) time as we could. We also left with some sweet Prototype hoodies. Thanks, Activision!
Now it’s time to get some sleep and prepare for tomorrow, when the real craziness begins. Will we survive the weekend? Stay tuned to find out.
