Jamie Delano, the man responsible for a lot of dark comic stories (including the first three or so years of Hellblazer), teams with Four Eyes artist Max Fiumara, one of my favorite new artists (yes, I know he’s not exactly new, but he’s new to me), for a new book from Avatar featuring pirates. Now I know that you’re thinking pirates are so yesterday, but honestly, you haven’t seen pirates done like this. Of course, neither have I, but the creative team is there, so based on those two gentlemen alone, I recommend this $3.99 book. Take a chance once in your life, would ya?
Dark Avengers #3
It’s not too late for you to start reading this book. I mean, hell, it’s only on the third issue. Don’t act like you’ve already missed out, because let me tell you my friend, things are just starting to get interesting. How does the Dark Avengers versus mistress of the mystical arts, Morgana Le Fey, strike you? You getting excited yet? No? How about if that battle was brought to you by Brian Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Don’t leave the shop without this $3.99 comic.
Spider-Man Noir #4
Everything comes to a shocking conclusion this issue. This Noir line has been pretty damned cool so far, so there’s no reason to think that this $3.99 issue is going to be any different. Besides, with Punisher, Daredevil, and Wolverine all set to receive their own Noir books in the coming months, you aren’t going to want to miss out on this one.
Thunderbolts versus Deadpool. ‘Nuff Said. $2.99.
I’ll agree that the story thus far hasn’t exactly been a page turner, but David Finch’s art sure is. Look at that cover. Look at it! How can you not want to pick that comic up based on how bad assed the art looks alone? Seriously, it’s like I don’t even know you anymore. Yes, it’s $3.99, and yes, it’s written by Jeph Loeb, who I know a lot of you dislike (I like him just fine… for the most part), but any chance you have to get a book with 20 some-odd pages of David Finch art is reason enough to get this for me. It should be reason enough for you too.
Old man Logan versus Tyrannosaurus Venom. Yeah, do I really need to explain why you need to spend $2.99 on this book?
No trade this week. Nothing screamed “Must Have.”
See you next time.
