Dulce Pinzon’s The Real Story of Superheroes Photo Project
Dulce Pinzon’s photography project, The Real Story of Superheroes, is an interesting look at what it means to be a hero. With a combination of immigrants and costumes, just how powerful a statement does he make?
I was pointed to this photographer’s site by Joe from TheSomethingcast. I was intrigued almost instantly. I’m not sure if any of you have seen this before or not, but Pinzon’s juxtaposition of fictional heroes with the real working class men and women is a unique perspective on the genre. I’ve picked out a few of my favorites, which you can see below.
I particularly enjoy the idea of the Thing and Green Lantern working in construction of different sorts. The Flash running a marathon seems a bit obvious, as does Aquaman working in a fish market, but I love the photos of Wonder Woman in the laundromat and Superman as a take-out delivery man.
Pinzon says this about the project: “The principal objective of this series is to pay homage to these brave and determined men and women that somehow manage, without the help of any supernatural power, to withstand extreme conditions of labor in order to help their families and communities survive and prosper.”
You can check out the rest of the entries on his site here.
What do you think? Pretentious? Eye catching?
