Dark X-Men Revealed

Posted by Luke Brown On April - 2 - 2009

Charles Xavier heads a new group of mutants, the Dark X-Men. Who makes the roster? Marvel revealed a tease today of just who we can expect to be a little bad.

First of all, let me say how much I love Terry Dodson’s Emma. It’s no surprise that the guy can draw a pretty lady, but he’s really outdone himself on this one. Anyway, it’s clear no X-team is complete without a Wolverine, and I’m a bit excited by the inclusion of Daken. Even though he’s sometimes a pissant, when written by the right writer, Daken can be an entertaining personality. So Namor, Emma and Chuck are at the forefront, which isn’t really surprising considering their ties to the Illuminati and the Cabal. It’s nice to see Cloak and Dagger in a book that isn’t Runaways. Not that there was anything wrong with their appearances there, I just like seeing them show up in more mainstream books. Looks like Angel makes the team, but which version of Angel we’ll be seeing is up in the air (bad joke completely unintended). I hate to say that I don’t know who the guy in the omega outfit is (if any of you know, please fill me in).

Looks like Matt Fraction’s got things pretty well under control, so I’m just going to let him do his thing. I wasn’t really excited about this take until I saw the teaser pic. Now it’s getting added to my pull list the next time I’m in my LCS.

  1. Maurice Kane Said,

The “M” on the winged character’s costume would reasonably indicate that its the Mimic rather than the Angel.

I would also surmise given the hairstyle or coiffure that the cloaked man is someone other than Cloak and may be Exodus.

Ah, yes, the “M”… missed that the first time around. Guess I was too excited about the preview image. Now, if the man in the cloak is Exodus, then is Dagger still Dagger, or is she another woman all together? And I’ve since read on various message boards that “Xavier” isn’t who he appears to be, and neither is “Emma.” I’m still curious where they’re going with all of this, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this all pans out.
