Captain America Preview Images Reveal New Bucky?
Tom Breevort, executive editor for Marvel comics, posted some preview images from upcoming Captain America issues on his blog last weekend. There’s some Gene Colan pages, some Luke Ross and Butch Guice pencils, and of course an image depicting a “new” female Bucky. Wait, what?
Captain America has always been one of my favorite heroes, and the last four plus years the title has been helmed by Brubaker and Co. has been an absolute treat. With two big issues about to ship (Captain America #50, and the renumbered Captain America #600) it looks like Marvel’s pulling out all the stops. You can clearly see there’s some cool stuff happening in those penciled pages, but what really caught my attention is that image of a Bucky-like woman holding a smoking gun. Speculation will run rampant I’m sure, but I’m really clueless as to who this could be. The obvious persons behind the goggles are Sharon Carter or Natasha Romanov, but I think those two are a bit on the nose for Ed Brubaker. These guys haven’t let me down for 48 issues, so I trust this creative team completely, and I’m really looking forward to (hopefully) the next four years.

To be completely honest, that looks more like the Winter Soldier to me, possibly refrencing a past chance confrontation with Nick Fury.
