Extra movie endings on a DVD release? Awesome. Multiple endings during a theatrical run? Not so much.
This appears to be the case with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which apparently has different endings that will be shown in different theaters in what has to be a desperate attempt to get people to see the movie multiple times. This isn’t like that Easter egg at the end of the Iron Man credits (which was awesome); according to First Showing, there are multiple prints of Wolverine and different theaters will be showing entirely different versions.
Although I was planning to see this movie, I’m probably not going to pay to see it more than once in theaters, and now I’m worried that the theaters in my area will have the print with a crappy ending. I don’t know that there is a crappy ending, but some have got to be better than others. I also don’t know how different the endings are, but I also don’t plan on researching the end of a movie before I go to see it, so all I can do is hope for the best.
I’m sure that, a few months down the line, all of the endings will be made available when Wolverine comes out on DVD and Blu-ray, but I really hate the idea of doing it while the movie is still in theaters and hope other companies don’t follow this trend. Will anyone see this movie more than once in hopes of seeing more endings?
