Witchblade #130

“War of the Witchblades” concluded last week with Witchblade #130. You didn’t think being on vacation was going to stop me from seeing who emerged victorious, did you?
Witchblade #130
“War of the Witchblades” Part 6 (of 6)
Writer: Ron Marz
Artist: Stjepan Sejic
Cover Artists: Sejic, Adriana Melo
After six months of the biggest catfight in Top Cow history, the epic “War of the Witchblades” finally reached its conclusion. As expected, it does not look like things in the Top Cow universe will ever be the same. After last month’s shocker ending, I didn’t know how anyone involved would be able to recover, but Ron Marz completed the story gracefully. Things are not always as they seem, and perhaps it was wrong to give up on the seemingly slain bearer of the Witchblade.
The continuing theme of darkness vs. light is radiated in this issue by Stjepan Sejic’s artwork. The heightened emotions being felt by both sides of the balance really shone through in these pages. He really understands how to convey things without having to go overboard. Despair, fear, hope, calm; he can say it all without ever actually saying anything. Marz and Sejic have been a consistently great team on Witchblade, and I’m happy to hear that they will be working together in the future.
Witchblade #130 came out last week, so check your local comic shops for a copy. What’s next for the bearer of the Witchblade, and the other forces keeping the balance in the Top Cow U? Only time will tell, but I’m certainly curious about what the future holds.
