PlayStation Comic Store Update – 01.28.10
This week’s comic update boasts 48 ways to beef up your digital comic collection. Take a look at what’s in store.
Unlike last week, this Thursday’s edition of the PlayStation comic store is chock full of good reads. I can’t start this week without recommending Origin, which for the few of you who haven’t read Paul Jenkins’ and Andy Kubert’s rendition of Wolverine’s true beginnings, is a great read, and belongs in everyone’s collection. Then there are a ton of Incredible Hulk books, kicking off with the return of Peter David to the title with the arc, “Tempest Fugit.” It’s drawn by the extremely underrated Lee Weeks, so you definitely need to check at least that story out. Factor in another issue of GI Joe: Cobra, the sequel of which just started this week, and was awesome, as well as more Wormwood, and you’ve got yourself a pretty good week. I’d like to not only see DC get involved here soon, but also more indie publishers like Oni and Fantagraphics. I think this could do wonders for giving people more access to harder to find books. Hopefully, it happens one day soon.
I know the entire internet is still abuzz about the iPad, and the implications it will have on the comic industry, but for now, I’m perfectly happy with my physical copies, and the occasional dip into digital on my PSP. I just can’t fathom bringing myself to pay $500 to read comics that I’ll never be able to frame and hang around my home in one way or another.
