E3 10: DCU Online Trailer Brings Out The Best/Worst In You

The latest trailer for Sony’s DC Universe Online MMO shows just how one man can make a difference, for good or for bad. Coming this November for the PlayStation 3 and PC, players will have to choose whether or not they want to save the world, or destroy it. That sounds like a concept I can get behind.
We get a pretty decent look at the variety of powers you’ll be able to give your created character, as well as getting another look at the game’s combat. Since DCU Online is more of an action-based game, the moves you see being pulled off in the trailer are actual things you’ll have to do, and aren’t just a simple keyboard command. I’m curious to hear how the game has evolved since I saw it more than a year ago at New York Comic Con. Back then, the controls were easy to grasp, but the game’s battle system felt a little too simplified, and wasn’t as satisfying as I thought it would be. Then again, that might be attributed to the fact that the character I was playing as relied on a gun rather than an actual power.
The game is due out this November, and it will be the very first MMO I devote a solid chunk of my time to. Sony’s still not talking about monthly subscription fees, but I’ll willingly pay up to $15 a month if it means I can run side by side with the Flash, or patrol Metropolis’ skies with Green Lantern.
