Thor: The Mighty Avenger #2

Though one could see the start of a new, less continuity-heavy Thor book as a cheap attempt at cashing in on potential new readers interested in the movie, Thor: The Mighty Avenger is so much more than that. Wonder Woman #601

This week saw the release of the first full issue of J. Michael Straczynski’s Wonder Woman run. Teamed with Don Kramer on art, the much hyped revamp of character has drawn its fair share of criticism without even having officially begun. As a bit of a teaser or “pre-print” as Cooke calls it, The Man With the Getaway Face was released as an oversized 24-page comic this past week. Condensing an entire novel into just a hair shy of twenty-five pages was no easy task I’m sure, but this brief adaptation not only shows just how talented Darwyn Cooke is, but it also serves as a reminder of how bad-ass Parker really is.
