A Letter From The Editor

The Quarter Bin is starting off in a bold new direction this week. Find out just what’s happening in the letter from our new Editor-in-Chief.

When I started working on this site three years ago, I was what the cowboys of the Wild West would call a greenhorn. All I knew was that I loved comics, and enjoyed writing. Creating a website where I wrote about comics seemed like a no-brainer because I could finally share my feelings and passion about the genre with people outside of my social circle. Being able to discuss the latest happenings in Amazing Spider-Man or how great Queen and Country was with a global audience was something I never thought I’d be able to do.

During my time over the past few years working on this site, I also worked for a video game website where I met a lot of great and creative people. We collaborated on dozens of videos, travelled the country together, and built up a strong working relationship that we’re proud to be continuing over here on The Quarter Bin. Some of you out there may be familiar with some of the new regular content that will be making its home here. Shows like Continue? and the Epic Boobs podcast will not only add some depth to the site, but they’re also only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the strengthening of the content on the site.

With the new contributors also comes a new direction for the site. Comics are still going to be the primary focus of The Quarter Bin, but we’re also slowly going to be incorporating some video game and movie coverage as well. Taking into consideration just how much the three genres are crossing over, as well as the strengths of everyone creating content for the site, these additions seemed like the next step in the evolution of The Quarter Bin. You can also expect to see a wide variety of great new original video content along the lines of our previous efforts, which will hopefully be among the best that we’ve ever created.

Since we’re now 100% independently owned and operated, this year presents a whole new challenge for all of us here, but we’re extremely excited for what lies ahead. I’ve seen what everyone’s been working on, and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in the least. We’re going to kick things off this week with an incredible amount of Toy Fair 2011 coverage and brand-new episodes of Continue?, as well as interviews from the premiere of the latest DC direct-to-video feature All-Star Superman. The improvements coming have been brewing for a long time, and now we’re finally getting the chance to share them all with you.

So with that I say, “Welcome to The Quarter Bin. Hope you survive the experience.”
