Darkwing Duck is a Better Protector than Batman
In 2009′s The Dark Knight, Batman was asked to make an incredibly difficult decision: was he going to be the hero Gotham wanted, or the hero Gotham needed? He obviously chose the latter, running from the police and continuing to fight crime in his signature style. In 1992, Darkwing Duck was given the same choice. He ended up in the same exact spot by the end, but in many ways, he handled it in a much more responsible way. Why? Because he cares more about his city’s emotional well-being than Batman does, and is a better protector for it. Read the rest of this entry »

Critical Hit: A Closer Look at Kingdom Hearts
We all have our favorites. They’re the games we’ve blindly loved for years. Top 10 Games That Deserve the 3DS Treatment

With a 3DS remake of the Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time one of the most anticipated games of the year, it seems likely that more classic games will get the 3DS treatment. Instead of leaving the difficult decisions up to Nintendo, the staff here at the QB took it upon ourselves to decide which classics should get some added dimensions. While these may not be the most obvious choices for 3DS remakes, it’s hard to argue that they’re deserving of a re-release, and that Nintendo’s newest handheld is a great platform to bring them to life once again.
Days Missing: Kestus #5
I was a huge fan of Archaia’s first Days Missing series, which started in 2009 and spanned five issues. The sci-fi series, which is published in association with Roddenberry Productions, follows an immortal man calling himself “the Steward” as he manipulates time to save humanity from itself. I was worried that the second series, the fifth issue of which was released this week, wouldn’t live up to the first, but after reading the conclusion I believe that Days Missing: Kestus is actually even stronger than its predecessor.

The New York Four

Unlike most comic book readers, I’m a sucker for a slice of life comic. Give me page after page of great characterization and nobody in tights, and I’m a very happy guy. Books like Death: The High Cost of Living and Strangers in Paradise are all-time favorites of mine, and when I heard about the buzz Vertigo’s The New York Five was generating, my interest was piqued almost immediately. Then I found out it was a sequel to The New York Four, a book I had never heard of from the late Minx imprint. Luckily, my comic shop had a copy or two and I was able to experience the lives of Riley and her friends. And I’m better for it. Read the rest of this entry »
