What to Watch for Wednesday

Posted by Luke Brown On June - 15 - 2011

For comics shipping 06.15.11 or The Week Green Lantern’s Light Shone Over Hollywood. Every week I’ll check Diamond’s shipping list to see what you absolutely, positively need to spend all your hard earned cash on at the Local Comic Shop.

Northlanders #41 – $2.99

Northlanders may be ending in another dozen issues or so, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking this book out while you’ve still got the time to read it monthly. This stand-alone issue by Brian Wood and Marian Churchland focuses on a young woman thrust into leading an army when her father passes. With a title like “Thor’s Daughter” you know you’re going to be in for something special. Churchland is an interesting artist that should bring a style and flair that we haven’t seen in the book as of yet, and I’m eager to see what she does with Wood’s script.

Trade Paperback/Hardcover of the Week

The Walking Dead, Vol. 14: No Way Out – $14.99

To the thousands upon thousands of you who read this book by the trade instead of monthly, you are sure going to find this latest entry packs an incredible wallop. Rick and the gang have been living in the gated community without much trouble, but all that changes one fateful day. A single gunshot attracts hundreds of roamers, and soon the little collective finds itself swamped with the undead. This storyline is by far one of the best the series has had in a while, and you’d do well to make sure you pick it up ASAP.

That’s all for this week. Be sure to check back tomorrow for our review of Green Lantern.
