What to Watch for Wednesday

For comics shipping 09.28.11 or The Week Amazon Changed The Game. Every week I’ll check Diamond’s shipping list to see what you absolutely, positively need to spend all your hard earned cash on at the Local Comic Shop.

Captain America and Bucky #622 – $2.99

More WW2 era awesomeness from Brubaker, Andreyko, and Samnee. I don’t ever want this book to end, as it’s probably the most unique and interesting a Captain America comic has been for a while. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely loved the past couple of years of the regular Cap book, and the new current era book is good so far, but setting this book in the past, and giving us untold adventures from Bucky’s perspective really makes this title stand out.

Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz #1 – $3.99

I will never get tired of these books. I hope Skottie Young and Eric Shanower keep doing these stories until the end of time. I don’t even like the Wizard of Oz that much, but there’s just something special about the way these creators bring that world to life.

The Mighty Thor #6 – $3.99

I mean, there’s really a short, short list of creators whose books you buy based on name alone. This book happens to have two of them working together, so it’s double awesome. Matt Fraction and Olivier Coipel make this book one of the best Thor comics of the last few decades, and it’s only six issues into its run.

The Sixth Gun #15 – $3.99

I’m about to break out some real talk. If you’re not reading this book, we’re not friends anymore. Plain and simple. There’s absolutely nothing to not like about Cullen Bunn’s and Brian Hurtt’s supernatural western, and the fact that I have to keep reminding you of its existence is a travesty. Now, go to your LCS and put this on your pull list so we can avoid any confrontations in the future. Thank you.

No trade this week. See you next time.
