What to Watch for Wednesday

Posted by Luke Brown On November - 30 - 2011

For comics shipping 11.30.11 or The Day You Needed to Recover from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Every week I’ll check Diamond’s shipping list to see what you absolutely, positively need to spend all your hard earned cash on at the Local Comic Shop.

Uncharted #1 – $2.99

Just in time for those of you looking for more adventures of Drake, Sully, and the gang, comes this new mini-series. Drake is searching for the “Amber Room,” and he’ll have to reach it before the people trying to kill him do. I guess. I mean, that’s what happens in the games, so I’m just postulating that’s what will happen in the books. I love these characters though, so I’ll definitely be checking it out.

Shinku #3 – $2.99

Shinku is finally back this week, and though it’s been delayed, the release couldn’t come at a better time. There’s a severe shortage of books this week, which gives you some budget room to check out comics you may normally have skipped on. Shinku is a great action story with some sweet art and interesting Japanese history thrown in. It’s totally something you should be going home with.

Trade Paperback/Hardcover of the Week

Morning Glories: Deluxe Collection, Vol. 1 – $39.99

Twelve issues of Nick Spencer’s and Joe Eisma’s incredibly mysterious comic about kids taken to a devious private school for reasons that are never really all that clear. There’s so much going on in this book on a month-to-month basis that it’s often hard to keep up, which is what makes this beautiful collection so great. You get a year’s worth of stories, plus all sorts of back-up materials, to digest and ponder. You’ll be hooked immediately. The book is just too good for you to be missing out on.

That’s all for this week. We’ll be back with more picks next time.
