The Amazing Spider-Man was the movie reboot nobody needed. Even with a strong cast, a competent director, and a bona fide bankable box office hero as the star, The Amazing Spider-Man suffers tremendously under the weight of a very uneven script. Instead of giving audiences a fresh, new take on the iconic webslinger, The Amazing Spider-Man falls quite flat, and leaves much to be desired from the eventual follow-up.

Fresh from E3 and impressed by Ubisoft’s upcoming efforts, I decided to tackle Assassin’s Creed II, one of the biggest games in my pile of shame, earlier this month. Not only am I ready for Assassin’s Creed III, it’s now one of my most anticipated games of the year, thanks to my time with Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
We’ve been eagerly anticipating getting our hands on the first of NECA’s officially licensed Valve figures ever since the partnership between the two fan-favorite companies was announced. Though NECA’s ASHPD replica was released first, the Left 4 Dead Deluxe Boomer is the first action figure to debut. Many questions were raised after last week’s premiere episode of Tron: Uprising, and with this week’s installment picking up immediately after the massive Beck vs. Cutler “to the death” cliffhanger, we couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. If you are a fan of the independent, small press titles on your comic shop’s stands, then you have probably heard of Zenescope Entertainment. From their flagship book Grimm Fairy Tales to their recent successful Kickstarter campaign, they have been grabbing a lot of people’s attention lately.
One of their latest hit tiles is The Jungle Book, a reinterpretation of the classic Rudyard Kipling tale. Writer Mark L. Miller turns the iconic story on its ear by transforming Mowglii into a girl and making an animal civil war the centerpiece of the series. Rocksteady had teased the possibility of downloadable content for their smash-hit sequel Batman: Arkham City since it was released to great critical acclaim last fall. After months of “will they, won’t they” hypothesizing, Rocksteady and Warner Bros. released “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” this week. Taking place after the conclusion of the main game, “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” pits Batman and Robin against the Joker’s lovably insane girlfriend. While fans of game will be eager to jump at a chance to don the cape and cowl and venture once more into Arkham City, what they’ll find in this additional content isn’t exactly all that welcoming. Since the release of 2008′s Iron Man, fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Marvel’s The Avengers. With subsequent releases The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel slowly laid the foundation for the ultimate team-up movie. There was a chance The Avengers could have been a crowded, jumbled mess. Fortunately, under the deft hand of Joss Whedon, and with the impeccable skills of the cast, the film doesn’t come anywhere close to collapsing under the weight of lofty expectations. The Avengers is the film fans have been waiting for, and even better, it’s probably the best comic book superhero movie ever made.
