Doug Mahnke Named Next Green Lantern Artist

Posted by Luke Brown On March - 18 - 2009

Starting in July, the monthly Green Lantern book will be home to Doug Mahnke’s pencils. That’s pretty f’ing awesome. Though, I’ll be sad to see Ivan Reis move on (hopefully to the new Flash book) after Blackest Night, I’m pretty sure I’ll get over it within a few pages.

Wizard World Philadelphia and VGXPO Combine to Form… Something

Posted by Sarah LeBoeuf On March - 18 - 2009

I happen to live in the Philadelphia area, and for seven years, I lived in Philadelphia, so I’m familiar with the two geek conventions the city gets every year, Wizard World Philly and VGXPO. Neither are particularly huge and can’t be compared to the bigger shows (San Diego and New York Comic Cons, E3, etc.), but hey, at least Philly gets something, right? Perhaps it seems only natural that the two shows would combine forces, and that’s exactly what is happening. As announced in a press release today, Wizard World Philly and VGXPO have formed a “strategic partnership that will provide cross-content, and cross-sponsorships, between VGXPO and Wizard Entertainment’s Wizard World Philadelphia event.”

In a nutshell, this new bond will apparently bring more gaming content to Wizard World Philly, and more comic content to VGXPO. You really needed a whole press release to say that, guys? At any rate, we’ll be there to check out all the happenings at Wizard World this June. Read on for more info.

Watchmen: Another Perspective

I was curious what people who weren’t as familiar with the source material thought of Watchmen, so I asked a good friend of The Quarterbin’s, Nikkita (writer for our sister site The Daily Dairy), to give her thoughts on the film. I’m sure many of you had friends or family that didn’t know what to expect going in, so it was interesting to see what Nikkita had to say upon exiting the theatre. So before you hit the jump, I’ll thank her for taking the time to do this, and I hope you enjoy her “outsider’s” perspective.
